The handrail installation jig, or HRIJ
for short is currently the newest and fastest way to install handrails. This jig was made by a father and son with a combined 90 years of experience in the field.
Handrail Rail Installation Jig
Steps you can save
With this jig
There is now no need to measure and mark with a wall,
(no tape measure or chalk line needed).
You can adjust jig for any riser height or tread width.
Maintains a constant height from top to bottom to meet code.
HRIJ holds handrail in place to install brackets,(no more do you need two people to install a handrail).
Can adjust to accommodate handrails that are angled, horizontal,on the left or on the right.
Saves a minimum of half the time it takes to install, without the need to make any markings.
Cuts down an approximately 12 step job to 4.
The entire install can be done with one person in less time it would take the old way with two people.
How did we come up with this fantastic contraption? Well as most contractors know, it is hard to make money installing handrails. So, after a job one day, I was upset so my father and partner asked me, “so what are we going to do about it?”. My reply was, we have to change the industry, for it has always been done the same way.
So I started to list off all of the requirements and procedures about handrails and how to install them. My father knew how to do them, for he is the one that taught me to and everything else that I know about the field. We started thinking about what a “handrail jig” would need in order to make it worth while, and also what would make them more profitable for install. By the time we got home, both me and my dad were very excited about making this jig. My father was drawing out plans, while I was already in the workshop putting the first prototype, (out of wood). This jig was the only thing that we could think about. This jig is capable of practically any handrail you can think of, whether it is angled, horizontal, interior, exterior and everything in between.
